New Balance Women’s 577 V1 Lace-up Walking Shoe – Reviews
Pleather or Leather?
Just bought these shoes in 8.5 Wide. I plan to use them on my elliptical machine. I think they will be great. I am somewhat puzzled as to why no where on the box does it say 100% leather. Leather is not mentioned ANYWHERE. I find it strange that this shoe is supposed to be 100% leather and it isn’t shown anywhere on the shoe, box, or packaging. Just makes me wonder🤔if it really is leather or pleather?

I’d recommend them!
I bought these for nursing school. I love that they’re fully leather, so there’s nothing for dirt and grime to stick to. They’re also true to size. They didn’t feel super comfortable at first, but I put in my own pair of insoles with arch support and now they’re amazing. I would recommend them!

I own a bakery and have been searching for a good shoe to wear on concrete floors for quite some time. I have spent a fortune in shoes and orthotics. I saw this shoe, read the reviews and ordered a pair before the holidays I love them! They arrived quickly. There was no break-in period and I was able to wear them all day, with no pain at all. They stood an additional test of getting me through the busy holiday baking season. I now have ordered a second pair (white).I strongly recommend this shoe to anyone who has experienced finding a good walking shoe. It is well constructed, has a wide toe box, which is something I now realize I needed. I am at that age where comfort beats our cuteness. The black go well with black slacks and I am comfortable wearing them outside of the work environment. No, they are not dress shoes….but what good are they if your feet hurt! I am happy and so are those around me. Treat yourself to comfortable shoes in 2016!

Great Shoes!!!
Possibly the best shoe available anywhere. Made of real leather in the U.S.A. It is time Americans quit paying big prices for fabric shoes made by forced labor in China under horrible working conditions by underage workers. New Balance 577 shoes have great arch support, room for the toes, and last a long time. When shoes support the feet properly the knees and hips are in line with the feet, and this prevents pain in the knees and hips cased by stress in the muscles and ligaments. When the pain begins to come back it is time to buy new shoes. I am 79 years with a history of heart trouble and two bad knees, and these shoes make it posssible to stay on my feet and walk so I don’t need a wheelchair.

Well Made Shoe but Not for My Narrow Feet
This is a well-made shoe and would be comfortable for those who find wide widths still a bit too snug and whose feet swell or need to wear thick orthotics because the shoe does run much wider and deeper in the toe box. I have a AA narrow foot with AAA narrow heel and found the 2A to still be much wider than feasible considering the leather will soften with wear. The 2A is presumably the standard narrow for a 1A foot or so I was told. It doesn’t make sense to me since numerically assigning it as a 1A (standard narrow) seems more logical and less confusing.Several reviews indicated people should order up 1/2 size. New Balance also recommends doing so on their website. I did and found it to be too long by 1/2 size! I have now ordered 4 pair of NB shoes and found my regular size (8) to fit perfecting in length and much better in their 2A width than these and I don’t think had I ordered these in an 8 that they would have been a good shoe for me in the long run. They really do seem to run wider – and deeper – in the toe box than the other 3 styles I ordered. The other thing I would note is that you buy a different insole as there is no cushioning in these to speak of and no arch support. I highly recommend Dr. Scholl’s Running Shoe insoles. Cut to size of the NB insole these work really well in their shoes and offer both the heel and instep cup like support just like the New Balance insoles and they are really comfortable. They also work well in the original Chuck Taylor B-ball shoes. Even though I’m a female, I love my Chucks best of all.As a suppinator (rolling to the outside of my foot versus pronation, rolling to the inside of the foot), I found both the WW928WT – my favorite – and the WW411WT2 – my second favorite – the best for suppinators. both these styles offer the roll bar and both have ample toe box room both in width and depth without being extreme. the 928 is a health walker and the 411 is a comfort walker with a very cushy insole, and both have really felt comfortable from the first time I put them on with no real break-in time. So take a look at that those if you’re rolling outwards on your feet.If you’re a pronator, I recommend taking a look at NB WW813WT. these also have a roll bar BUT it is a different type of roll bar that runs front to back – on the inside of the foot – where pronators likely would likely most need this. But note: They are also the only style of the 4 I purchased that ran small and whose toe box was more shallow (less deep) as well. So do order up a 1/2 size in that shoe and perhaps 1 width wider for any orthotics you wear. It’s well made but NB appears to have streamlined the toe box much more in that style, I guess for a sleeker look. Who knows really. The 577’s were made in the US. The other 3 styles were made in Vietnam. All were well made and I observed no shoddy workmanship between any 4 pairs purchased. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all!0

Great Everyday Shoe
The New Balance 577 provides a narrow heel and wide toe box with very good cushioning. This is great for someone who has toe problems, as I do. I have worn this shoe for many years, starting back when it was the 576. Perhaps someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I don’t believe the 577s have the hard shank as do most of the other models. I always wear these with an over-the-counter orthotic, which provides arch support. I do think these shoes wear out from the inside. The support seems to sink after about 6 months or so, but I assume that is to be expected. Overall, the 577s seem to be the best shoe for me. I wear them all day every day.

Great price,quality and durability!!!
Love these shoes! Very durable and last for years! If you like to walk, try these shoes! I’ve gotten a lot of running shoes for walking, but the running shoes don’t compare to these shoes in price, quality and durability! The price is about half. The quality is great; I’m even comfortable wearing these with slacks to dressed-up functions. (Keeps my toe problems under control.) The durability is amazing! Some days, I may walk over 14,000 steps, or over 7 miles. Yet the shoes lasted for over a year!

Shoes are very important for health.
I was a ballet dancer so I have a high inner arch and these are the best ones for me. My great aunt who lived to be 105 had to have special shoes made to walk and walk she sis-all of her life. Leather is best because it lets your food breathe and plastics are bad for the Oceans.

New Balance Women’s 577 V1 Lace-up Walking Shoe – FAQ
Are these an actual lace up or slip on with lace look
They are actual lace-up. Happy Holidays!
Is it true to size or should I get a Size Up ?
This is my second pair of WW577. I got size 9, the size I wear in all shoes. So I believe the size is true. They do loosen up a little and, once again I am very pleased with this shoe. Oh I hope this helps. I know it’s a pain, but you can always exchange them if the size is wrong.
pic shows laces. description says straps which is it
Hi Dennis, These shoes are lace up shoes.
Nb width chart: narrow is aa, which is too tight; what does wide mean?
In women’s sizes, M means medium width, A is narrow and AA is extra narrow. W means wide and WW means extra wide.
I have some nerve damage in my feet and they will burn when walking very far…I walk daily.. are these cushioned well and should I wear a size bigger
I had to send them back! I could not even get it on my foot! I usually wear an 8 and ordered a 8.5, so yes I would order at less a size bigger. I did not reorder but choose a different style. Good luck!
I am looking for a size 9 B. Is that a 9 M
I would say yes. I used to wear a B size and an M would fit the same.
Do these shoes run wide or regular? i currently wear a size 8 d but it is not a 577 – since my choices are c/d or 2e, I am not sure what to order.
I have a wide foot and wear a c or d width depending on cut. This shoe fit me well not tight like the typical women’s a or b width.
The photo shows the WW577 Black with shoe laces, but the description says 2 hook adjustable straps….Which would I be getting. Thx
Mine came with shoe strings only.
Are these shoes considered low top?
I’m no expert, but they seem to be low top. They hit just below the ankle on each side, and are just a tad higher than my other shoes. Super comfy!
What does 8 xw ua mean?
XW means extra wide and Unauthorized authentic, otherwise known as “UA”, are shoes that are produced in the same factories (using the same exact materials) as the authentic product when they were commissioned by shoe manufacturers and companies, but sold by someone else.
