Vibram Men’s FiveFingers, V-Trail 2.0 Running Shoe – Reviews
Stuffs people need to know
First of all, I love it but I have to say it is different, and it is not for anyone. The following review is really about sharing stuff I learned during my use.Starting with the pros. The vibrams are very lightweight and easy to put on. I have been majorly using them as outdoor slippers when I go out camping, working around the house and sometimes just walk around. They have great tractions and keep the feet breathing. Now, I haven’t actually put them for regular gym training, hiking and other outdoor sports, due to their major kinks. First, comparing to regular sports shoes and hiking boots, vibram has thin and equal thickness across the sole, so if you are heavy or just not used to exercise barefeet, you will feel way more pressure onto the back of the feet and way more shock then what you usually expected. But I do believe you can get used to it or overcome it by training the feet.Second, considering the low thickness of the sole, there are very low defense on the bottom. You fell very sharp feelings walking on regular gravels or rocks, and I don’t feel confident taking them for hiking.Sizing is the hardest part, since you need to choose the size base on the “true size” rather than your regular true size. I have returned about 4 or 5 times just to get it to work. It is not necessarily smaller than regular size, like if you are already wearing larger size shoes for more rooms, you don’t have to go up a size, but have to actually go down. Also don’t worry too much if you generally wear EE shoes, I didn’t encountered any problems. Also there shouldn’t be any outstanding wiggle room in the shoes, for best “adhesion” you need to have both front and back end of your feet contact the shoes, otherwise there might be slipping.

Fixed toe cloth ripping, but added more problems
So they did double-reinforce around where the sole meets the toe cloth, which has always torn on my other vibrams. In this model, it’s cloth and some sort of thin rubber, so I think the toes won’t rip. There’s a bit of extra stitching inside the toes now, which isn’t as comfortable, but you can get used to it.There are some other problems now, though:1. The upper around the back of the heel is the harder leather/fake leather now, so you can’t fold it back to slip your heel in like when it’s cloth, so it’s much harder to fit your foot in. I almost got blisters on my thumbs trying to slip into the 46’s, which is what I normally wear, and had to get the 47’s instead.2. On mine, the left big-toe space was much smaller than the right-toe space for some reason, so there’s always pressure pushing outward on the inside of the my left big toe, which is pretty uncomfortable. But I probably just got unlucky.3. The most fatal flaw is that for some reason there are significantly large sewing/stitching lumps inside the shoe, one located on the outer edge of each forefoot. I thought maybe they’d get pushed/worn down with use, but it seems like everything around the lumps are getting pushed down, and the lumps are sticking out even worse, so they are like soft pebbles stuck in your shoes, right at the outer forefoot where I am most vulnerable to get blisters. I’ve worn these shoes for two 1.8 mile easy runs, just to break them in, both times with toe socks, and the second time (which I just got back from) I’m pretty sure they’ve given me a blister on my right foot.My advice is to wait for v3.0. I’ll probably take mine out for one more short run and if they’re not any better I’ll try to return them.

Really comfortable
I would order a size larger than your normal size. There is an actual foot length measure on the size chart and I used that but still ordered one size larger to make sure the toes fit well. Hard to size something when everyone’s toes are a different length.

Blisters and does not breathe…bad design
I have been wearing Vibrams religiously since 2009 and this is the first bad fitting pair I received. Within 2 hours I started feeling a rubbing across the top, when I got home I had two dime size blisters on the top of my feet right behind the last joint of my big toe. I went up one size because of the reviews on Amazon and it did not seem to matter. One more issue, these things do not breathe at all! They need to have vents, it is like wearing wet suit material around your feet. The only positive is the traction they provide, but not enough to counter all the other negatives. After trying them for a week I returned them. Looking at the reviews it might be time for a redesign……

Vibram Men’s FiveFingers, V-Trail 2.0 Running Shoe – FAQ
I have an old pair of 5 fingers.. in between the toes wore out.. is that solved here? …. Also , im 10.5, what size is suggested for these?
Not sure what you mean by solved. Not sure what you mean by old either, but size for these shoes run small meaning if you wear a 10.5 normal shoes you SHOULD go up a size or size and a half. 11.5-12 is suggested for V-Trail shoes.
How wide are these shoes, can I order a wider size?
My foot is wide I have no problem putting them on
I have a pair of five fingers that are about 7 or 8 years old and they are a size 42. What size should I get in this model?
Hello, here is a link to the shoe on vibrams website where you can reference their shoe specific size chart! https://us.vibram.com/shop/fivefingers/men/outdoor-trail/v-trail-2.0-mens-M76.html
How much protection do these offer? can you run at full speed on rocky trails? my ksos don’t offer enough protection.
I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re a hardcore minimalist. TBH, I only use them at home. The only thing in between your foot and the ground is a thin rubber sole that’s only a few mm thick.
If I see someone wearing these can I beat them?
Yeah, sure but I’m sure you’ll be at a disadvantage. Those that wear these foot gear will have an advantage in fight or flight scenarios. Fighting is best done with bare feet, or full articulation in the feet and legs. And running is more efficient and fast when barefoot. Unless you are barefoot during this exchange, you might get a round house kick that you couldn’t see coming. Have a great day.
Do these have a midsole? half sites say 2mm midsole, others 2mm insole. wanting to make sure they don’t have the odd midsole feeling of the cvt series
Not really sure, but I would sat that they have a complete outer sole, when I ordered mine from Amazon they offered free returns, so if you don’t like the sole send them back for a full refund. I really like mine so far, but I have not worn them very much yet.
What size is a 45? 11-11.5 or 11.5-12
A Euro size 45 would roughly translate to a US size 11-11.5 (44.5-45.5); a US size 12 would translate to a Euro size 46.
Is there a wide option? I have feet like fred flinstone. And also do tbey run large or small?
Ask the seller, normally Vibram does not but similar items do: Merrill shoes(they use Vibram soles)
Would they be good for cross country. So around 2-5 miles. Not too hard. For school meets and things like that?
yes they would be fine. be careful with sharp rocks but otherwise yes. I used them on nature hikes with the cub scouts and boy scouts(as a leader).
My shoe size is 9.0 to 9.5 us but foot length is 10.75. acoording to the sizing chart, they are two very diffrent sizes. which size do i use?
My shoe size is the same as yours. Get the 9.0 to 9.5. The foot length is not the size of the Vibram FiveFingers–it is just an alternative measurement in case you don’t know your shoe size.
