not a barefoot shoe, has arch support and elevated heel

not a barefoot shoe, has arch support in the construction of the shoe. the midsole area is very narrow, creating pressure on the arch area unless you have high arches. For those without high arches, it causes the foot to tip to the outside, unbalancing the stance and gait. Also the insole has elevated heel. Also there is no lateral support in the very soft uppers so shoe is ok for walking but not for any kind of lateral movement.very disappointing that whitin has no real barefoot shoes in their collection.

Not a “Wide Fit”. It is a “Narrow Fit” at best.

I purchased a size up (13) from my typical size 12 and the shoe is still way too narrow. It should be marketed as a “Narrow Fit”…not a “Wide Fit”. See photo’s where I show the insole on the size 13 shoe. The top of the toebox area is a pathetic 2 to 3 inches wide. The widest part of the shoe is not even 4 inches wide….and this is on the size 13 shoe. There is no way my size 12 foot is fitting in this size 13 shoe…unless I cram my toes into the toebox. Does anyone have a foot shaped like the Whitin insole in the pictures? I highly doubt it. Why can’t shoe companies make shoes shaped like a real foot? Every shoe out there forces the toes into a tight box which causes deformity of the foot and loss of stability. Why can’t shoe companies make an anatomically correct shoe/sneaker/boot? It should not be this difficult to find shoes that fit a human foot.

Not wide enough for my wide foot

I have wide feet, having bought wide shoes for the past 15 years and never been happier. I wanted to try a minimalist shoe because I love the last pair of non-wide shoes I owned, which were a cross between a moccasin and a tennis shoes: very minimalist. I go between an 11 and 11.5 typically extra wide. After searching online for the “best wide minimalist shoe”, I found these and gave them a try. I initially tried an 11 given my history and they felt like a paid of ballerina slippers they were so tight. I returned them thinking that I just needed a size up (which would be 12 for these). Unfortunately, while they fit better, it was still very tight across the ball of my foot and the little toes felt constrained.Yes, these have a bigger toe box, and probably be a good fit for someone whose feet run slightly on the wide side. Also, the feel was very minimalist (good tactile feedback as I walked through the house, no artificial bend points forces on the foot). I really want to like them, and think I would have, if they weren’t so constricting. The rating is from the perspective of looking for a minimalist shoes for a wide foot, and sadly it does not deliver for me.

Really like these shoes

Very comfortable. Fit is good. I ordered size 8.5 the sticker on the sole shows that this equates to European size 42. The sizing seems to be quite accurate or very slightly larger. The shoes are light weight and very comfortable. I also own a pair of “WHITIN Men’s Minimalist Trail Runner | Wide Toe Box | Barefoot Inspired” in a size 8 which are also excellent. Compared to those trail runners with the wide toe box, these shoes are slightly more narrow at the toe but still very comfortable. They are more of an everyday walking shoe with a less aggressive traction. They seem to be very well made and should hold up well to daily use.

Great right out of the box

I have big wide feet with a half a size difference between them so finding shoes online is difficult without the trying on. For example At XMass I was in the hunt for boots and It took ordering seven pairs to get two. Thanx Amazon for free returns. So when I order a pair of shoes and they go on without a hitch and fit like they were made for my feet as well as wear them for hours immediately with no issues, my soul smiles. They are true to size as well as wide, and comfortable with or without socks. The only reason I put a 4 for support is because they are a moccasin/bare foot like feel with high bend ability. Therefore you naturally loose just a bit in the support departmentGreat shoe I wil be ordering more

Great minimalist shoes

I’ve ordered and returned several different types of minimalist shoes. For whatever reason these fit me the best, feel incredibly light and flexible, and actually look passably normal enough that I don’t get asked questions about them from others when I wear them out. They took a week or so of getting used to (especially given that I usually walk at least an hour a day) before my feet got used to the feel of walking with such light soles on concrete, but I have to admit that the flexible sole and ability to feel the ground beneath my feet has actually helped with a sense of stability while walking. In the past I would semi-regularly misstep or miss a crack or unevenness in the ground and roll an ankle. It hasn’t happened once with these shoes, because the sole (and my foot) will instead adjust to the unevenness and flex naturally, instead of the flat sole forcing the whole foot to angle at the ankle. Overall, these are an amazing deal for the price and have held up well so far with virtually no visible wear to the shoe or sole after a month of heavy use. But I could buy four pairs of these for the price of my last walking shoes, so even if they wear out within a few months I will feel like they were well worth the price.

Everyday shoe for those looking for minimalist shoes

I’m new to the whole minimalist shoe trend, so I don’t know if this really counts or not, but it’s got a zero-drop sole, even if the insole has some padding. After trying another pair of the WHITSIN shoes that I got mainly for running (which I enjoy,) I tried this pair that looks like a “normal” shoe, for casual wear, not necessarily running. After a few weeks of wear, they work great. They have the zero-drop sole, so don’t have the huge build-up in the heel like most shoes these days. I’m a men’s size 12 and they fit perfect. I’m really happy with them and wear them all the time.If you’re looking to move into minimalist shoes, this is a good place to start.

WHITIN Men’s Minimalist Barefoot Sneakers Wide fit Zero Drop Sole Upgraded Footbed – FAQ

What happened to size 9?

It got discontinued. People with sized 9 feet aren’t welcome here.

I have flat feet with muscles in my arch, so I have wide arch. Will the shoe accommodate or will the shoe stick out on the arch side?

A barefoot shoe is meant to help strengthen the muscles in the foot. The theory is that many running shoes “over support” therefore causing your feet to be weak. So, based on the mentioned theory, your feet shouldn’t need support. The muscles won’t fall due to a lack of support. They will continue to strengthen due to the lack of additional cushioning built into footwear.

How do these fit compared to altra shoes? if i’m a size 10 in altra’s would these fit? need a wide toe box

Looked up the shoes you are talking about (altra shoes), they look like awesome sneakers but price wise I’m struggling right now and Whitin are quality shoes and affordable in my perspective. Can’t say that about altra because I’ve never heard or bought a pair but their sneakers do look awesome. Just can’t buy a pair right now. As far as the fit the design looks similar in width by the toes so I would assume it may fit the same.

To those of you who bought a leather version: is it real or faux leather?

I think it’s faux leather.

Is the pigskin insole real pig skin? If not, are these vegan?

There are no animal products used in this shoe. “Pigskin” refers to the texture on top of the insole. It has tiny bumps like the surface of a football.

Can u remove the onsole

I have 2 pair, and the insoles are removable in both sets.

I ordered a size 10, but received euro size 44. What is the us equivalent of 44?

I asked the Whitin team and this is what they sent: Thank you for your message. Pretty sorry for the inconvenience caused by the size problem. The knit sneakers have two version, the one the built normal insole (more barefoot feeling) and the other one is upgraded leather insole ( Thicker insole, Stronger arch) In the size chart of the normal one , US size 9.5 = size 42, US size 10 = size 43, US size 11 = size 44 In the size chart of the upgraded one , US size 9.5 = size 43, US size 10 = size 44, US size 11 = size 45

Does the white leather shoe 9.5 = euro 43? thanks.

Yes, In the size chart of our barefoot sneaker, US size 7 = size 40, US size 8 = size 41, US size 8.5 = EU size 42, US size 9.5 = EU size 43, US size 10 = EU size 44, US size 11 = EU size 45, US size 12 = EU size 46, US size 13 = EU size 47.

What are the length of size 8 & 8.5?

I don’t know about the measurement of the size 8 for these shoes. Although, I would have to guess that it would be about the same measurement as any other shoe, between 25.4 or 25.7 cm.
