Xero Shoes Men’s Mesa Trail Running Shoe – Lightweight Barefoot Trail Runner – Reviews
Loved them until they broke
They do run quite small. I normally wear a Men’s 7, I had to order these in an 8.5. Once I got the proper size I loved them; so comfortable and had amazing traction for my short hikes. However, I wore them a total of 8 times and 24 miles when one of the lace loops broke. And the break is so even you can tell it is due to poor construction and the loop not being secured properly rather than the nylon tearing. These are not cheap shoes and I love all the other Xero styles I own (3 pair), so it is a real shame they are made so poorly. Returning for a refund, so disappointed.

I can trust my feet again to make good decisions!
I saw a promotional video on these shoes, and thought ‘yeah, right’ because I’ve been disappointed in shoes so many times. I have hammertoes and neuromas, so I just expect shoes to be uncomfortable, but the concept of ‘simulated barefoot’ makes sense. The first pair was too small – make sure you order at least a size larger than you usually do.I ended up with men’s shoes because the women’s sizes were not big enough. And I did add a Dr. Scholl’s air-pocket insole to give a little more resilience/paddingBut, once I got these two things correct, these are some awesome shoes. The fit is like no shoe I’ve ever had, a luxury of space for my toes, and the cleat-grip makes them very secure.I feel like I can trust my feet again to make ‘good decisions’.Very few shoes are ‘worth the money’ these days, but these are.

Three day rainy mountain hike = pleasure!
These Xero trail shoes hug my feet so softly and snugly, on day 3 of the hike after 24 hours of soaking rain, we woke up to wet shoes, socks and cloths. I foregone my socks and put my new Xeros on. End of day – no chafes, no pain, no blisters. Feet feel so good I could take my shoes off and easily walk barefoot for a few miles. I own four Zero pairs and these are highly recommended! The fit is a bit small as I got size 11.5 and my usual is 10.5-11. Fit was perfect.

Buy these immediately! You won’t regret it…
Okay, so I’ve had these shoes now for almost a week. I absolutely love them! These are so light weight and comfortable its ridiculous. Very well ventilated. I could feel the wind blowing through them. The front is so nice and wide that there is PLENTY of room for your feet to spread out in them yet not so much that you are sliding around inside of them. I was so impressed with these shoes that this is actually my first time i have ever taken the time to write a review for a pair of shoes.

Order 1 size 1/2 up. They run extremely small.
Great quality. Extremely grippy. Very light and breathable. Everything you can possibly want in a trail running shoe. My only complain is that they run small. I had to return 4 Different times to get the right size. It’s not enough to drop stars. A bit annoying though. Once you get the right size, it’s the best trail running shoe you will ever own.

Like the style, comfort!
I was looking for running shoes and these looked better than the name brand styles. It’s minimalistic, look like climbing shoes, low cut. Really enjoy them and they look unique compared to everyone else’s sneakers.

Scamming hippies.
Absolute rip off. They have decent toe box space and that’s it. The most uncomfortable $135.00 pair of shoes I’ve ever been dumb enough to pay for and they’re made in China. I bet you the “owner” that does the advertising is in hiding somewhere in Tibet.

Fits nicely, roomy toes.
I normally wear a size 9 1/2, which is what I ordered. They fit perfectly. They have thinner soles and a lower heel than what I am used to in typical trail running shoes.I’m looking forward to the trail.I’m currently healing from a fractured pinky toe, so I can’t really go too hard yet on the trail. But they are comfortable.

Xero Shoes Men’s Mesa Trail Running Shoe – Lightweight Barefoot Trail Runner – FAQ
Why are all Xero shoes for men only available in a wide fit?
All of our shoes are created to have a wider than average toe box to allow for natural movement and to allow your toes to spread out.
Would you recommend these shoes for daily work?
Hello there, Thank you for contacting us. Great question! Since the Mesa Trail would be a more athletic trail running shoe, it would have a lightweight mesh for breathability and rubber lugs for grip. In your case, if you were looking for day to day wear, I might have a few better suited suggestions! The first would be the Prios, which have a more traditional padded upper and tread which makes it great for the day to day indoors! Otherwise, if you are mostly working outside, we also have the TerraFlex which have the padded upper like the Prios, but with rubber lugs for extra grip off the road! Hopefully that helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions, we are here to help! 🙂
Can you wear these in water?
The Mesa Trail can be worn for many different used, but this style is not waterproof or designed with water use in mind. However, we do have a couple style with wet conditions in mind, including the Xcursion (waterproof), Aqua X Sport and Colorado (both designed to allow water to drain quickly). 🙂 Please let us know if you have any questions.
I’m trying to find a shoe that will work on technical trails and the road, has anyone done any road running with these?
Hi Robin, We do not typically suggest the Mesa Trail for road running, since pavement could wear the lugs down quicker than their intended use on the trail. However, we have quite a few customers like will use the Prio or HFS for multi-use purposes. 🙂 Please let us know if you have anymore questions.
if you wear these barefoot and sweat so need to wash them what is the best way?
Hello there, Thank you for contacting us! To clean your Xero Shoes we recommend hand washing them in cool water with a mild soap. If they are exceptionally dirty, then you may want to use a medium-bristled brush. Please allow them to air dry afterwards. We do not recommend using a washer/dryer, as the variation in settings can be too harsh on the materials. Damage caused by a washer/dryer would not be covered under warranty. Hopefully that helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions, we are here to help! 🙂
My older prio’s are size 11. should i order the mesa in the same size?
Thank you for contacting us and for your support in Xero Shoes! The best thing to do is to start with your normal size and go by the recommendations on the website. Some shoes fit a full size small and some shoes fit more true to size, we put all the info on each product page though. You can find details on all of our styles here: https://xeroshoes.com/venturefit/ The Mesa Trail fits a half size small, so we recommend ordering a half size larger than your usual size. If you purchased your Prio’s before they were resized in August 2019, we would recommend a size 11 for the Mesa Trail’s and if they were purchased after this date, we would recommend a size 11.5 for the Mesa Trail. Hopefully this helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Is it ok to Waterproof these shoes?
Thank you for reaching out! Great question! Some customers have used scotch guard and materials to water proof these. However I would say because of the mesh upper design it may not fully keep the water out of this style. It may just resist the amount of water coming into the shoe.
How much do these weigh in grams or ounces? Specs say 1.6lbs, making them extremely heavy?
Hello! That is a great question we would be happy to assist. To help with your question the weight of a men’s 9 is about 7.6 ounces (each).
When will the sizes be restocked please?
The Mesa Trail will be restocked around Spring of 2022.
Can I get these in extra wide?
Thank you for reaching out and your interest in Xero Shoes! All of our shoes and sandals are designed to allow the foot to move, bend and flex naturally. This means that there is no arch support, minimal if any cushioning and a wider than average forefoot to allow for toe splay. Our products are not going to be offered in “extra wide”, but our men’s styles are going to offer an extra 1/4-1/8″ width compared to the women’s version. Our main concept is to allow you to move naturally, as if you were barefoot, but with protection! Since everyone prefers a different fit, we unfortunately cannot guarantee that they will work for everyone. I hope that helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions. 🙂
