glorified water shoe

As some have already mentioned, this shoe is more-or-less a well executed water shoe that you can get from Target or Walmart for $10. But I like the laces as opposed to the elastic string on most water shoes. If you have a wide foot, it fits well. I normally get 9.5, so based on manufacturer description, I went a half size up and it fits fine. The uppers feel nice and soft, but the sole is a thin and rubbery. Seems like it would hold traction well even when wet. But I would hate to run in these. When they say minimalist, they really mean minimalist. You also cannot argue with the weight (12.4 oz for a size 10 pair, half that for each shoe of course). If you are going somewhere you need a super light water shoe which looks like a regular shoe, this is fits the bill (like if you are backpacking and need to carry a pair of shoes for an occasional river crossing in addition to your hiking boots). Overall, I like the shoe but I’m not sure it’s worth $100. **EDIT** after two weeks of owning these: They are very similar to the Merrell Vapor Glove shoe (which sells for $80) but the Xero feels just a little more robust. And unlike the Merrell, the insole on the Xero can be removed (to let them dry faster) or replaced (with something more cushie or stiff to fend off feeling sharp rocks on the road/trail). I am still having a hard time justifying the price but they are growing on me, but I think my initial 3 star rating was probably unfair… up’ed to 4 stars.

Great minimalist shoe but runs small

I had been looking for a suitable replacement for my New Balance Minimus Zero’s for several years as that show us no longer being made. From all that I read, these Xero’s seemed like a great match. I eagerly purchased these shoes, purchasing the same size I had for the New Balance shoes. I love everything about the Xero’s and would give them 5 stars except for their sizing. They run very small. When put side by side with the New Balance shoes, they are noticeably smaller in length. I struggle to get them on, but once in they are okay. In the future I will order up a half size. Otherwise- a great minimalist shoe!

Diabetic Neuropathy Now with Style

There’s not a lot of items that compel me to write a review (good or bad). I’m diabetic, but I do strive to live at least a semi-athletic lifestyle… but that means shoes are an important decision for me. I’m also a designer and kinda strive to present my own image as somewhat nuanced. Diabetic/orthopedic (or however you want to classify them) shoes are all totally lame and made for old people that don’t get out much… and really don’t help me. I usually find myself constantly going back to NewBalance which have some decent options, but are still lame and I’m getting way bored having to settle for them… I also have a lot of criteria when choosing a new shoe because of my neuropathy. These Xero Shoes just hit every single nail with one fell swoop and I’m overly excited about them.First, they look great. They are super thin so they don’t make my feet look overly big and the design is that of modern activewear. I like how these specific ones have a low ankle. They are light. It’s almost like putting on another sock. Drop-foot is one of my issues because I no longer have a heel reflex. These are the perfect weight. The main inside of the sole is a little rough for me (but understandable for more of the barefoot feel) but the optional, included insole is perfect for the bottom of my foot and doesn’t take up much room. Which brings me to my next criteria. They are way roomy, despite the tight look. Nothing is compressed, which is a main source of some pain that I have. My toes are free and nothing is pushing down on the top of my foot. The sole is perfectly balanced in protection and feel. I still remain as active as anyone who has a full-time job can. A lot of that is hiking and nature-type stuff, when it’s not too hot. These shoes allow me to run and feel the ground without sacrificing the protection needed to divert the pain of rocks and everything in my way.I feel like I want to wear them to bed because of how comfortable they are… my wife won’t let me.

Longtime barefoot shoe user – these are top notch

Exceedingly happy with these. Some reviews said they do run a tiny bit small, so I got an 11.5 instead of my usual 11 and they work great.I’m a long time user of barefoot-style shoes (about five years), and these are some of the best I’ve bought. I started out on Vivobarefoot and like them alot, but as my feet have spread and I’ve started using CorrectToes, I find that some of their new models are a bit too narrow for me.These are nice and wide, breathable, and stretchy in the midfoot, while still trying tightly at the top to keep my feet from sliding in them. The main reason I’m so happy with these is that I just started working 12-hour shifts in a warehouse, and my Vivos and Softstars don’t grip the smooth concrete very well; I don’t have any problem with the Xeros. This is well worth the trade for an additional ~1mm in sole thickness.I had a pair of Xero sandals that I loved, but these have sold me on the sneakers. I look forward to getting some Hanas or Prios as well.

Xero Shoes Men’s Speed Force Minimalist Running Shoe – Lightweight Comfort – FAQ

Is it recommended to wear these completely barefoot? Or wear socks with them?

I would wear socks. I do believe you can wear them barefoot but I’d say to avoid a smell, wear socks

I wear a 12 but there isn’t a 12.5, should I go 13 or stay 12?

I wear size 11 and 11 fits perfectly, like a glove. I had measured my foot with a tape measure, 11” exactly.

I wear a womens size 7, what size compares?

The Speedforce does tend to run small, so we suggest ordering a half size larger than your normal shoe size. The Men’s sizes will be a size and a half different than the Women’s but the Men’s being wider, so a Women’s 7.5 will be the length equivalent to a Men’s 6 (Men’s being wider). However, the smallest size we offer with the Men’s sizes is a Men’s 6.5. We do also offer this particular color in the Women’s sizes as well.

Do these only come in wide sizes?

All of our shoes are made to be wider than average. We don’t have different width options (narrow, wide, extra-wide).

How are the sizing for these compared to the Prio? Size 10 fits me on the Prio

Hello! We recommend ordering a half size larger in these because they run small

Are you able to do Kung fu in these shoes?

Traditional kung-fu shoe is Feiyue. Xeroshoes SpeedForce are much more comfortable. You get what you pay for.

I have a narrow foot especially in the heel. I wear a 10.5 men’s shoe. Will these shoes be too wide for me?

It may start out wide, when you foot adjust I think that it will fit ok.

What is the thickness of the sole? (At the heel and forefoot)

The Speed Force sits on our most minimal sole at 4.5 mm’s!

Is this shoe water resistant?

The Speed Force is not a water resistant shoe.
