Pretty shoe, odd sole, size 1-1.5 larger for fit.

Attractive shoe! Sizing is a disaster. Got a size larger than usual, but need to add another half a size, I think. I won’t try exchanging because I felt the sole encourages pronation when I walked in the shoes. Not good. The lateral edge of the sole felt thicker than the medial edge because of traction bumps. The sole needs to be more uniform for this whole barefoot thing to work, I think…Update – I got myself a larger size and the instability issue got a little better, but I realised that the toe of the shoe is too pointy and pushes my big toe into the valgus position. I also tried the Xero Mesa trail and the toe is much wider with a profile that keeps the big toe straight. The sole of it is also much more stable, but the trade off is it looks clunkier. So, still a no for Speed force for me.

Toe bed isn’t as wide as I would prefer

Nicely packaged with a note card from the founders. I have another pair of minamilst shoes that are not as easy to put on, but you get what you pay for. My only concern is that they smell like rubber and I’m hoping that will wear off. I like them with or without the insoles. I will be wearing them with lightweight cotton socks. The toebed isn’t as wide as my other pair I always wear a wide shoe. I’m usually an 8, but got these in an 8.5 as this is the European size 39 that I wear in my Halflingers. Should they not live up to my expectations I will write an addendum

Great out of the box

Got these as a replacement for the Merrell Vapor Gloves. I LOVE the Merrells from a ground feel and comfort perspective. Flexible, moldable, zero drop, minimal sole, but I shred them within just a few months. The mesh upper is . . .well. . . not very sturdy. The Xero has a slightly thicker sole and a little bit of a deeper lug, so the ground-feel is not as obvious, but the flexibility is still there. Also, I’ve experienced no wear on the upper thus far. I was concerned about the tongue behind the achilles that the reflective ribbon threads through because I trend toward blisters in that area, but there’s been no rubbing, chafing, hotspots, or any other discomfort with these shoes. To be clear, I’ve work minimalist shoes for many years, so if you are new to minimal shoes start slow.

returned twice

Listing says true to size, so I ordered womens 10. Those pressed on my big toe. Returned for 10.5 and those aren’t long enough for my 2nd toe and the toe box doesn’t seem wide enough to be a barefoot shoe. Do I try an 11 or find another shoe?

The most comfortable running shoe

This is the most comfortable running shoe i’ve had. I’ve had the typical brands, Nike etc walking shoes, running shoes but this is by far the most comfortable. They wear as already broken in the first day. I hope they last because i feel I will be wearing daily.

Love these shoes

These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I am prefer to be barefoot and these shoes are the closest thing I have found to being barefoot. Definitely go a half size more than what you would be in a normal shoe. I also like the fit better by taking out the insole.

Very Comfortable

The shoes are comfortable. I wear finger socks with correct toes and I feel its just right. The length could be a little bigger. My big toes touch the top of the shoes. I feel overall it is better than my Merrell. At first I hesitated in buying them and bought the Merrell and because my big toes kept hurting in the Merrell I broke down and got these. It’s been worth it!

Comfortable and durable

These shoes have been awesome, I wear them for weight lifting and running. I formerly wore Merrell Vapor Glove 3’s but they kept getting torn up after 6 months (especially if I ran in them). These seem to be holding up much better than the Merrells. For the Xero, I tried wearing them with the inserts, but I ended up taking them out.

Xero Shoes Women’s Speed Force Minimalist Running Shoe – Lightweight Comfort – FAQ

Do these tear on the sides after a while? i wear merrell vapor glove 3s and i’m so tired of them getting ripped on the sides because of the thin mesh.

I’ve had mine for 8 months and so far, so good. I caught a branch on the “ribbon” part of them the other day and was worried that they’d rip, but they’re fine.

Does the insole come out to accommodate Orthotics?

It would, but the point is to allow your feet to feel the ground and balance naturally. I swear getting rid of insoles and padding has changed my life!! I’d give them a chance as is, before you put in insoles.

what good is USA size chart? always size up? can’t China make them correctly?

I am usually either a 7 or 7.5 in women’s size shoes depending on the fit, ordered a 7 the first time because I own another pair of a different style of Xero brand shoes in this size, but this style fits a bit more snug. I’d suggest ordering a half or full size above your usual size. I ended up with a 7.5

Does the upper leave enough room for the metatarsal joint? I have the merrel vapor 3, and it does not, which causes my foot to roll in

All of our shoes and sandals are designed to allow the foot to move, bend and flex naturally. This means that there is no arch support, minimal if any cushioning and wider than average forefoot to allow for toe splay. There should be enough room for the metatarsal joint, but of course, feet are all shaped differently.

Is the inside sole of these smooth? I have a pair of minimal shoes that have some “bumpiness” from the construction on the inside.

Hello, Thank you for contacting us and for your interest in Xero Shoes! Our shoes are designed to be worn with our removable 2mm thick insoles which are very smooth or without them as the shoes are equipped with a soft woven foot bed that many of our customers find very comfortable! Please let us know if you have any questions!

Anyone with plantar fasciitis use these? Are they good for this?

I have mild pain in my feet and Morton’s Neuroma…all shoes hurt, but these are a winner for me. I am at the gym three days a week and I own a cleaning business as well. I am always in my feet and these are a godsend to me.

Latex free?

Hello, Thanks for reaching out! Due to patent reasons, we are unable to provide you with the chemical composition of our shoes. There is no latex in our synthetic rubber, but the sole to bind the soles does have latex. However, our closed toed shoes should not cause an allergic reaction (we have not heard of any issues), since your feet would never come in contact with this material. We would recommend steering clear of the Cloud as it also uses this glue, and your foot may come into contact with it. For your further review, all of our shoes are compliant with California Prop 65 regulations for hazardous chemicals. Hopefully that helps!

Do they make a size 10? It looks like the highest size option in the drop down is a 9.5. I wear a 10 usually.

Hello there, Thank you for contacting us. Great question! We offer the Women’s Speed Force between size 5 through size 11. That said, we typically restock in the spring and in the fall, so while they may not be available in your size currently, we would be expecting more Speed Force in the coming weeks! Hopefully that helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions, we are here to help! 🙂
